In an exceptionally close PC Advisor [Macworld's sister publication] poll that asked 'What will be your next smartphone operating system?', Google Android pipped the Apple iPhone's iOS by just 0.4 per cent.
Of the 1,177 respondents, 22.3 percent named Google Android as their next smartphone OS, while 21.9 percent plumped for Apple iOS.
"I'm gonna stick with Android," wrote forum member AL47. "iPhone OS is too restrictive, Win Mobile doesn't have a good track record, but they always seem behind the others anyway, BlackBerry isn't for me... the others aren't well supported."
BlackBerry was closely behind in third place, with 16.7 percent of votes, with HP webOS in fourth (9.6 per cent).
Microsoft's newly launched Windows Phone 7 polled a disappointing 9.1 per cent, while Symbian picked up 8.2 per cent of votes.
