Legendary shoot-em-up Quake is being developed for the iPhone, a report claims.

A report - and video - on 9 to 5 Mac explains the game is being deployed on Apple's mobile device, and that it makes use of the movement sensors built into the iPhone to act as a user interface.

Admittedly, it's not an authorised port of the title, but continues a tradition of games re-engineering for Apple devices that was first seen when developers managed to hack Doom to run on an iPod with video.

The developers also claim to have managed to make the game a multiplayer over WiFi title, publishing a video which shows two connected iPod touch devices playing the game against each other.
