The Queen has ordered her lackeys to get hold of an iPad 2 for her, it has been reported.

The report, which appeared in tabloid newspaper The Sun, suggested that Her Majesty had been so blown away by the iPad 2s owned by her grandsons William and Harry.

"She was particularly taken with how easy it was to use, the large screen and how light it was. For a woman of her age, she is very switched on. It was only a matter of time before she asked someone to go and get her one," a Buckingham Palace insider apparently told the newspaper.

Apparently, Wills and Hal think the fact that grandma'am wants an iPad is "hilarious", but HRH is adamant that it is just the thing to keep her entertained on long journeys.

The report, if true, isn't greatly surprising - after all, the iPad's ease of use makes it perfect for monarchs of all ages - and she already owns other Apple devices.

Back in 2005, the Queen joined the iPod generation when a member of her staff bought a silver iPod mini from Apple's Regent Street store for her.

In 2009, US President Barack Obama gave QEII an iPod loaded with snaps of her visit to Virginia in 2007 when he came to England, though there are some doubts hanging over this incident, as it was reported on 1 April of that year.

Rumours that Queen Elizabeth II also has a 12-core Mac Pro in each of her residences couldn't be confirmed.
