Skype has introduced a new unlimited (10,000 minutes per month) calling service, making the deal available to over a third of the world’s population with the launch of its new calling subscriptions.

The new subscriptions are the first time Skype has offered a single, monthly flat rate for international calling to landline numbers in 34 countries.

Users don't need to sign-up to a permanent subscription to take advantage of the plan, which lets users make calls whenever they like, all day every day.

Three types of subscription are available, including unlimited calls to landlines in the UK (£1.95 per month), unlimited calls to landlines in 20 European countries (£2.95 per month) and unlimited calls to landlines in 34 countries worldwide (£6.95 per month).

Users can purchase a subscription directly from Skype, the company is offering customers who purchase one of the new subscriptions for a 3-month or 12-month period before 1 June 2008 an additional 33 per cent discount.
