The briefly-mooted Apple/Volkswagen 'iCar' project may have come off the road, a report claims.

Talks between Apple and Volkswagen were revealed earlier this year, giving rise to a hubbub of expectation that the motor manufacturer may jointly develop a vehicle with Cupertino, which industry watchers swiftly christened the 'iCar'.

Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn met with Apple's Steve Jobs in September, in order to discuss proposals for some form of co-development of a compact car equipped with certain Apple solutions.

Now it seems talks have stopped, according to Germany's Presseportal, which reports talks between the two firms have stopped, terming the project, "shaky".
