Despite being based on semi-officially endorsed standards, Apple's new AirPort Extreme Base Station isn't properly supported by Microsoft's Xbox 360.
The new AirPort Extreme offers greater performance and more range than previous generations of the network device, though its European performance is crippled on demand of local radio-communicaitons regulations.
It appears that Mac users with a brand-new Base Station cannot get the Microsoft console onto the network, unless, ironically, they disable security on their network.
The Base Station does work — even with security switched-on — with the PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo Wii, a report explains.
It's likely to be Redmond's problem, but it's likely to be left to Apple to repair it as one of the projects undertaken as it upgrades its tranche of Windows applications in order to support Vista.
