Intego is offering its Internet content filtering application, Content Barrier, free for a limited time to members of Apple's iTools service.

The company hopes to help iTools users plug the gap left when Apple decided to terminate its KidSafe filtering service this month. Apple said KidSafe had suffered low use, but recommended its customers use an alternative product to protect children from questionable Web content.

Content Barrier is also a component of Intego's Internet Security Barrier, read Macworld UK's review of that product.

Intego is hosting a Web-based form to apply for a free copy of the product. Fill it in and the company will email you download details in early September. The offer applies until October 1.

Intego's Web site is encountering heavy traffic as this news breaks.
