LaCie has introduced an array of new products at CES, Las Vegs, including a new 24-inch LCD monitor and a range of new hard drives.

Aimed at professional users, the company's new 24-inch wide gamut display, the LaCie 324 LCD Monitor (£579), embeds a 10-bit Gamma Correction mechanism that minimises banding and ensures colour gradients are smoothly rendered. The monitor also supports high definition video up to, and including, 1080p sources.

The monitor can showcase two letter-size (A4) pages side by side with additional room for palettes and toolbars. The LaCie 324 accepts four simultaneously connected computers or video sources through its VGA, DVI and two HDMI ports, and supports HDCP for Blu-Ray and HD DVD compatibility. Two of these sources can be simultaneously viewed in picture-in-picture mode.

The company also revealed its new d2 Quadra (from £109), which has seen a redesign. The d2 Quadra now includes a shortcut button and ships with EMC Retrospect Express backup software. The product provides 60 per cent more surface area than before, which LaCie claims produces much-improved heat dissipation (no need for a fan) and also including a three-position on/auto/off switch for better power management. Two or more drives can easily be connected to the host in RAID 1 or 0 configurations.

The company also introduced the LaCie Little Big Disk Quadra, a mobile hard drive that's available in 400GB or 500GB and runs at either 7,200rpm or 5,400rpm. These high-performance mobile drives support all standard Mac connectivity standards: USB and FireWire (400 and 800).

With an eye to digital convergence, the company also introduced a new drive, the LaCinema Premier Multimedia Hard Drive (from £149). This USB 2.0 solution is available in capacities up to 1TB and supports most popular video, audio and image formats, and is capable of 080i upscaling. Users can pump entertainment files into the device from their Mac, then plug the drive into a TV for playback, the company claims.

The Big Disk Extreme+ also gets an upgrade. The USB 2.0 drive is available in up to 2TB capacities, ships with EMC Retrospect for backup and is now equipped with fast eSATA 3Gbits connectivity, capable of burst transfers rates of up to 125MB/s.

Finally, LaCie has increased the maximum capacity of its range of Rugged All-Terrain and Little Disk drives to 320GB.
