FileMaker has introduced professional certification for the FileMaker 9 product range.

FileMaker 9 Certification helps developers gain recognition as database industry experts. In addition to receiving a FileMaker 9 Certified Developer certificate, those who pass the test may use the FileMaker Certified Developer logo on business cards and marketing materials. Members of the FileMaker Business Alliance who receive certification are listed as certified developers on the FileMaker website.

“The FileMaker 9 family offers many new features that make development times shorter and enable developers to add more value to their FileMaker solutions,” FileMaker president Dominique Goupil said. “Becoming certified enables developers to deploy more advanced solutions based on the unique capabilities of FileMaker 9 and also helps them transform their skills into competitive and career advantages.”

FileMaker Pro 9 certification testing is available in English and Japanese only (Japanese certification testing available in March 2008).

FileMaker recommends that test candidates take the FileMaker Training Series, the most comprehensive self-paced training for FileMaker 9 which costs £65 (excluding VAT). The series includes 12 in-depth training modules, demo files, exercises and videos.

Trainer-led courses are available through FileMaker's network of authorised trainers.

FileMaker will host its FileMaker Developer Conference between 13-16 July at the Marriott Resort and Spa in Phoenix, Arizona.

The FileMaker Technical Network offers exclusive access to technical briefs and resources. Membership is £49 (excluding VAT) per year.
