Pleasant Software has released its public beta of ShowMacster 1.9, software that puts Leopard-like features in older versions of iChat.

The company describes the software as "media sharing for the rest of us". It's an iChat extension that enables users to stream pictures, QuickTime movies and live screen captures during a video conference.

ShowMacster adds a drawer to the video chat window in iChat. Users can import collections of their favorite pictures, icons or movies to show others in chat. ShowMacster switches between the current iSight video stream to the assigned media at the touch of a button.

For productivity, ShowMacster also lets users share their actions on the desktop with the person they are talking to. The software also includes a Sketchboard tool which lets users draw right inside the current streaming picture.

ShowMacster v1.9 is available as public beta for Mac OS X 10.3.9 and Mac OS X 10.4.x and costs $19. A free trial version is available.
