Japanese developer Pixela Corporation has released ImageMixer 3 Mac Edition, simple to use software for creating DVDs from camcorders using a Mac.

To make a film, a Mac user simply needs to connect their video camera and can then browse the clips on the camera using the ImageMixer 3 user interface. Users can preview videos on the camera using this.

To transfer video to a DVD, users specify an in and an out point, and can combine multiple clips to make a single piece. Once editing is complete, users drag-and-drop their video selections, and can choose from a range of DVD menu interfaces.

The software has minimal system requirements. It works with Mac OS X 10.3.9 or above and requires a PowerPC G4 1GHz or higher processor, it also works with Intel Macs. The computer must have a SuperDrive for disc burning.

The software is compatible with Dolby Digital 5:1 sound. It costs £54.
