Pleasant Software has released Übercaster 1.2, introducing support for Mac OS X 10.5 in this release of the podcasting production suite for Macs.

The software offers a range of tools designed to help Mac-using podcasters, including live audio recording, automatic ducking (fading some tracks into the background); chapters; ID3 tags; and the capacity to encode the transmission into MP3, AAC, or AIFF audio formats.

Users can expect performance improvements on the Cut layer; selectable launching actions; an improved user interface and many small tweaks to the software.

The application has been completely written in OS X's native language, Objective-C, and is capable of accessing Mac system features, such as CoreAudio, CoreImage and multi threading.

The new version of the $79.95 application also offers performance improvements and additional features.

A demo version is available here.
