Markzware has released the final version of FlightCheck 6 following an extensive beta-testing period.
It's a major upgrade to the widely used preflighting software, which introduces support for Intel Macs, XPress 7 and InDesign CS3. The software has been in beta since November 2006.
The application offers an improved user interface for PDF preflighting, the software can automatically switch between PDF and non-PDF preflight rules.
FlightCheck 6 supports most font management tools, such as Extensis Suitcase Fusion, Insider Software FontAgent Pro, Linotype FontExplorer and Apple Font Book .
This new version automatically creates Fonts and Images subfolders whenever collecting jobs for print and allows users to set-up customized font and image paths for prioritizing where these components should be searched for first.
Discussing the release, Markzware CEO, Patrick Marchese observed that new product innovations, such as those within InDesign 5 or XPress 7, could pose new risks for users in time critical environments, such as printers.
"FlightCheck 6 delivers on Markzware's promise to provide our customers with top-flight preflighting to compete and prosper in today’s fast-paced environment. Professionals that are looking to streamline their digital print output and eliminate costly re-runs should consider FlightCheck as their quality-control solution," he said.
Both FlightCheck Designer and FlightCheck Professional v6 for Macintosh are being shipped to dealers and partners immediately. Both upgrades are available free of charge for registered FlightCheck 5.8 users who purchased on or after 1 February, 2007. UK upgrade or product purchase prices haven't yet been revealed.
