Mac gamers have been waiting a long while for Valve Software to offer a version of popular game, Half Life, for Mac OS X - and may have to wait some time longer yet.

Apple has been focusing some of its efforts on convincing games publishers to take its computer platform seriously.

Most recently this led Electronic Arts to release several games it had developed for the Mac in-house, using the Cider development engine.

Apple has also been speaking with games publishers in an attempt to persuade them to bring titles to the Mac - a request Valve Software spurned, demanding one million dollars to make the move, according to Inside Mac Games.

The report says Valve Software wanted any games publisher planning to develop a Mac version of the game would be required to hand over the money in order to secure the licensing rights for the version.
