Nuance has introduced Dragon Dictate for Mac 3, the newest version of its speech recognition software, which promises improved accuracy, speed and simplicity.

With the new version of the software, Nuance has added Smart Format Rules designed to help users personalise Dragon Dictate on their Mac, as well as improve detail detection and the correction process.

The new recognition window and Vocabulary Editor offers alternative word choices, and can learn your spelling preferences.

Dragon Dictate for Mac 3 supports Mountain Lion and the operating system’s new features such as Notes and Reminders. It also adds more control for other applications that were previously unable to work with Dragon.

Also new is the ability to transcribe audio files recorded on a digital voice recorder or iOS device. Nuance offers a Dragon Recorder app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch to aid the transcription process.

Nuance claims that Dragon Dictate for Mac 3 has a 15 per cent improvement in out-of-the-box accuracy compared to the previous version. Check back soon for our review of the software.

Dragon Dictate is available for pre-order from £129.99 here, and will be available to download from 13 September. For more information, visit Nuance’s website.
