Epson has introduced its Perfection V200 Photo scanner, which features 4800 dot per inch (dpi) resolution and the ability to scan 3D objects.
The V200 can scan 48-bit colour and has a 3.2 dynamic range. Buttons on the front of the scanner enable you to scan, copy to email, and produce PDFs immediately. The scanner is equipped with a built-in transparency unit to enable you to scan 35mm slides and negatives. The lid is a "high-rise" model similar to other Epson consumer scanners that enables it to scan 3D objects.
Functions include dust removal, faded photo restore and backlight correction, red-eye removal and the ability to automatically straighten and realign images for scanning.
The V200 comes with ArcSoft PhotoImpression 5 for Mac and ABBYY Fine Reader 5 Sprint Plus for Mac, and it's also TWAIN-compliant. It's compatible with Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later.
The Epson Perfection V200 Photo will cost £69.99, and will be available in July 2007.
