Quark has entered into partnership with Alfresco Software in order to develop enterprise-class publishing and content management programmes for professional and corporate publishers.

Alfresco is a leading open source alternative for enterprise content management (ECM). The new partnership should enable Quark and Alfresco to offer cost-effective end-to-end content management and publishing solutions based on open standards and Quark's own publishing solutions.

"The biggest challenge within the content creation workflow within any organisation is a seamless integration of the content with traditionally siloed systems," said Mukul Krishna, global manager, digital media practice, Frost & Sullivan. "The Quark and Alfresco partnership is exactly the sort of integration that the market needs to create more efficient workflows in the form of end-to-end solutions that integrate content management with dynamic publishing throughout the content lifecycle."

"Quark's partnership with Alfresco expands our functionality into the open source community," said Linda Chase, general manager, QPS.
