The upcoming release of Adobe CS 3 is driving speculation that Apple may refresh its Mac Pro line of desktops — with graphics performance as a leading edge to its creative pro pitch.

A report today claims that the supercharged R600XTX graphics card from ATI may appear as an option within a souped-up Mac Pro, featuring 1GB of built-in GDDR4 memory running at 2.0GHz.

AppleInsider also posits that the card will support CrossFire technology on the Mac. As explained, this technology only works on compliant systems and allows users or manufacturers to pair graphics cards within a single system to improve graphics performance.

AppleInsider adds that the card includes a heat pipe using vapour technology to keep temperatures low. It also observes that Xeon chips would be required to run the new GPU.
