Skype has launched Skype 5.5 for Mac Beta, promising an improved user interface as well as improvements in call quality.

You can download the beta from Skype's website. The new version also lets you easily accept incoming call with or without video, Skype said.

"This update includes improved Call UI, the ability to accept incoming calls with or without video and improvements in call quality and stabilization," said Skype for Mac product manager Krishna Panicker on the company's blog.

"The improved discoverability of Skype's Call allows Mac users to easily mute their microphone, send video, share their screen, send files and even add more people during a call," he continued.

Skype is now owned by Microsoft. Back in August the company released a version of its voice-over IP client for the iPad.
