Ambrosia Software’s popular screenshot and screen recording utility has gone Universal to run natively on Intel Macs. Snapz Pro X 1.0.1 also fixes some minor bug problems and adds some performance enhancements such as a 'movie guide' that shows you the area of the screen you are recording.

Ambrosia president Andrew Welch also said the company were working on a replacement for the utility. “If you use Snapz Pro X, you’ll be astounded by what we are working on,” said Mr Welch.

Snapz Pro X allows you to record anything on your screen, saving it as a QuickTime movie or screenshot that can be emailed or put up on the web. Snapz Pro X supports saving screenshots as .bmp, .pict, .gif, .jpg, .png, .tiff, .pdf, or Photoshop files with control over image compression.

Screenshots can be scaled, cropped, colour depth-changed, and dithered. Snapz Pro X can also add borders, generate automatic thumbnails, overlay watermarks and copyright notices. Snapz Pro X 1.0.1 costs $29 for the regular version, $49 for the QuickTime version, while you can upgrade for $19.
