You can now vote for your favourite online videos in Vimeo's Festival + Awards 2012.
Submissions for the second Vimeo Festival + Awards opened in December and 14,538 videos were submitted, with 1,485 - a little over 10 percent - coming from the UK. Nearly a third of the total - 4,775 entries - came from Europe.
Entries have been whittled down into 12 semi-finalists per category, with 31 of the semi-finalists coming from the UK.
There are 13 categories including the Animation, Captured, Documentary, Experimental, Motion Graphics, Music Video, Narrative, Remix and Series awards. In addition there are new awards for the Action Sports, Advertising, Fashion and Lyrical categories.
"We wanted to shake things up this year," said Jeremy Boxer, Director of the Vimeo Festival + Awards. "We felt it was important for anyone and everyone around the world to be a part of this process— especially since we saw amazingly creative work across five continents."
To vote, you'll need to be a member of the Vimeo community. It's free to sign up, and voting will close on 30 April. The winner of each category will receive a $5,000 (around £3,140) grant and there is a $25,000 (£15,690) grant for the overall Grand Prize winner.
The last Vimeo Festival + Awards took place in 2010 and the overall prize was won by Eliot Rausch for Last Minutes with Oden. Rausch is among the judges for the 2012 awards. A panel of industry experts will judge each category, as well as the winner of the specific category in 2010, and public votes will be given special consideration too.
The Vimeo Festival + Awards ceremony will be held on 7 June in New York. The festival takes place from 8 to 9 June, with a range of workshops, screenings and other events on offer.
Attendees can choose from a two-day ticket package (including access to the Closing Night Party) for $60 (£37.50), a one-day package for $40 (£25), or a screening pass for $20 (£12.50). A limited number of tickets to the Awards show are available for $25 (£15.70) each from the Vimeo website.
