Apple has released Security Update 2003-03-24 for Mac OS X 10.2.4. It is available using the Software Update feature.
This update addresses a Samba vulnerability that has been identified that could enable unauthorized remote access to the host system. Samba is a file-sharing element of Windows.
OS X's Windows file-sharing feature is based on the open-source Samba technology. The feature is switched off by default in OS X.
"OpenSSL is also updated to address an issue in which RSA private keys can be compromized when communicating over LANs, Internet2/Abilene, and interprocess communication on local machine," Apple reveals.
"It is recommended all users install this Security update," Apple warns.
