Adobe has announced the public beta of its Lightroom software for Windows users.
Like Apple's Aperture, Lightroom is Adobe's in-development tool to help boost the imaging workflow of professional photographers.
"A significant number of professional photographers operate on the Windows platform, and Adobe Lightroom beta is designed to support their workflow needs," said Kevin Connor, senior director of product management for Digital Imaging at Adobe.
"We have over 3,000 beta testers actively participating in our Lightroom beta for Mac forums and we're looking forward to extending this invaluable dialogue to the Windows community," he added.
Among its many features, the application supports over 120 native Raw file formats, and integrates new Raw image processing technologies that are currently in development at Adobe.
Lightroom beta 1.0 for Windows or Mac is available for free download from the Adobe Labs website.
