Adobe has released Photoshop 6.0.1, as a free download.
6.0.1 contains performance improvements, including a self-cancelling picker, that disappears after a paint brush has been selected. Also, the Contextual Menu extension no longer needs to be installed in order to use toolbar flyout menus. And Photoshop 6.0.1 will remove old Photoshop temporary files if the operating system has failed to do so.
The updater is available from Adobe US's servers now, though an Adobe spokesman this morning confirmed that Adobe UK would be hosting it "soon". The spokesman added that the update would probably be "the same" on US and UK systems. The download page says that it works for "English language versions only".
The 6.0.1 update can be downloaded for free by owners of Photoshop 6.0. The update is also available on CD, for $20 plus shipping.
