MacBook Air owners are being offered a solution to enable global mobile internet access without WiFi.

Germany's Nova Media has introduced its €299 GlobeSurfer ICON HSUPA High speed USB-modem, which supports HSUPA, 3G UTMS speeds as well as EDGE and GPRS connections around the globe. It connects via USB and ships with a USB extension cord.

"This small and lightwight modem is the perfect internet companion for the MacBook Air", said Jan Fuellemann, PR spokesperson at nova media. "Since it features an advanced receiver technology, it is likly to work in
places with sub-optimal quality of reception as well."

GlobeSurfer HSUPA includes the internet connect wizard launch2net for Mac OS X which offers a one-click connection to the internet without the need to enter cryptic connection details. launch2net includes connection settings for most network operators around the globe.
