Apple has released an audio update for Intel-based Macs running Mac OS X 10.4.10.
The update resolves a previously identified audio problem, widely known as the "snap, crackle, pop" problem. This was a popping sound heard through some attached external speakers.
Shortly after applying the previously-released OS X 10.4.10 update, some Mac users reported the annoying noises coming from their machines, particularly MacBook, MacBook Pro and Mac mini systems.
Apple recommends all users of Intel-based Macs should install the update, Audio Update 2007-001.
