Apple's newest board level recruit, Arthur Levinson has purchased shares in the company.

He purchased 80,600 shares in the company in October, according to information taken from the Securities and Exchange Commission. MacCentral, which revealed the news, estimates that Levinson purchased the equivalent of $1,550,774 of shares.

Levinson was placed on Apple's board in August, replacing Edgar S Woolard Junior, who announced his intention to withdraw in March.

Levinson is also chairman and CEO of biotechnology company Genentech.
