Apple CEO Steve Jobs climbed four places to become the 74th richest man in the US, reports Forbes.
Jobs' net worth climbed to $2.6 billion in 2004. "Gates is far richer, but Jobs is way cooler with the kids," Forbes says, thanks to "two decades of innovative design and catchy marketing".
The report looks at Apple's sucess in music, with iPods and more - and entions forthcoming competition in the space from other services.
Father-of-four, Jobs is "lucky" that "most of his wealth lies elsewhere, in digital animation shop, Pixar."
Microsoft's Bill Gates remains in the number one position.
