Apple is second in a list of how important companies and technologies are to the pro video and graphics markets, TrendWatch reports.
The research firm yesterday released its fourth Visual Effects/Dynamic Media Survey Report, which takes an in-depth look at the needs and usage patterns of the pro-video, visual effects, post-production, recording studio and graphics markets.
Major findings in the report on the US industry include an increase in the number of high-definition (HD) production facilities, detailed descriptions of HD format adoption and signs of optimism in the content creation markets.
Published twice annually, the findings are based on research conducted among 550 US businesses in the industry.
Most importantly for Apple, TrendWatch says: "US visual effects/dynamic media studios/facilities ranked Adobe Systems and Sony as the first most important supplier in the next three years. Apple was ranked second and Microsoft took the number three slot."
Workstations, video-editing software and servers remain the top three investment categories for 2004. Sixty-nine per cent of mid-size studios expect business to be excellent in 2004, "signaling more optimism and a stronger economy", said TrendWatch.
