Apple is suing anonymous individuals who it accuses of leaking details to the Web of its unreleased products.

The company filed suit in the Santa Clara County California Superior Court on December 13. Apple describes itself as a company driven by innovation. "The protection of our trade secrets is vital to our success".

Reuters reports Apple's complaint that "an unidentified individual, acting alone or in concert with others, has recently misappropriated and disseminated through Web sites confidential information about an unreleased Apple product."

The company is known for being deeply secretive on almost all its levels of business.

"To succeed, Apple must develop innovative products and bring those products to market in advance of its competitors," the company said. Looking at its competitors, Apple said that to reveal information in advance could help those competitors develop product or marketing strategies to thwart Apple's plans.

It's not clear which of the many pre-Macworld Expo show rumours have been tacitly confirmed by Apple's action. The company often confounds its industry pundits, speculation exists that Apple may announce iLife 05 before the end of next year.
