Apple is seeking a software engineer and has placed a job advertisment on gaming industry recruitment site, Gamasutra.

The description of the position suggests that the company is looking for someone to develop games for the iPod, speculates Think Secret.

The Apple rumour site states that the company is looking for a programmer with "ARM7 RISC processor experience." Apple's iPods are powered by a chip from PortalPlayer that is based on the 32-bit ARM7 processor, notes Think Secret.

The applicant should also have "experience working with embedded systems". The lucky person would also be "responsible for rapidly developing memory and performance optimized software solutions to complex problems."

Other qualifications being sought by Apple include "Flash experience". Think Different notes that this could mean Apple plans to add Flash support to the iPod.

The company is also looking for someone with "2D or 3D graphics programming" experience.
