Apple manufacturing partner Hon Hai Precision Industry (owner of Foxconn) saw profits climb 43 per cent in its second financial quarter this year.

The company's after-tax income climbed to NT$12.8 billion ($388 million) from NT$8.9 billion a year earlier, Bloomberg explains.

As well as the company's widely reported status as Apple's iPod supplier, the company also supplies components for Motorola RAZR phones and Sony PlayStations. It also builds desktop machines for Dell and HP.

Apple recently completed an audit examining working practices at Hon Hai subsidiary Foxconn's iPod factories in China.
