Future Macs may soon ship with an iSight as a standard fitting, according to a new patent filing.
A filing made on March 12, 2004, posits a laptop design with an integrated webcam. It's not a new idea - some models of Sony VAIO laptops already ship with such a device, though Apple's is capable of revolving on its axis.
However, with typical Apple attention-to-detail, the application describes a camera with a second use - as an integral part of the notebook's latch mechanism.
"The portable computer further includes a latch including a data capture device such as a camera that is configured to secure the lid to the base," the filing reads as reported by Apple Insider.
