Apple has changed the appearance and design of its online Apple Store in the UK.

Similar changes were implemented across its US Apple Store last night.

The new look is far cleaner and simpler to navigate than before. The store contact number and search field is now situated in the top left corner, with iPods featured above the Macs in the key central top visual field of the site.

The new-look store also offers users two simple generic options: "Shop Mac" and "Shop iPod". The US store also features a "Shop iPhone" zone, though this isn't present in the UK implementation, as the device isn't yet available here.

A new "Staff Picks" region has appeared. This currently highlights Apple's new wireless keyboad, its wireless Mighty Mouse, AirPort Extreme Base Station, 20-inch Cinema Display and third-party products from JBL, Bose and InCase.

Additional categories lead to Mac accessories, software, iPod accessories and the Education, Business and International stores.

The design also features illustrated tabs that lead to the newest products and the latest offers; the 'New To Store' list also remains,

Finally, the revised interface lists the "Top Sellers" in the Mac, iPod and Software categories. These lists are currently led by the iMac, iPod touch and iWork '08 products (respectively).
