Apple has introduced its latest batch of security updaters for Mac OS X.

Security Update 2008-002 contains over 40 fixes for various components of the operating system. Versions are available for client and server systems, Leopard and Tiger systems. Previous security updates have been incorporated within this release.

There’s a host of improvements across the system. Some key changes include an update for Preview which resolves an issue that could allow encrypted PDF files saved in Preview to be read without a password.

A slew of OS component apps see security improvement, including: AFP, Apache, PHP, AppKit, ClamAV, CoreServices, CUPS and curl.

Security Update 2008-002 is available using Software Update or for direct download from the company website.
