Apple’s European sales grew faster than any other PC maker in the last quarter, according to a report by Reuters.
European PC sales overall grew by 17 per cent in 1999, slowing to 11 per cent in the fourth quarter, but Apple’s sales grew by an impressive 52 per cent, according to the report.
Compaq held on to the number one slot, but the gap shortened as a result of flat sales to corporate customers later in the year. Dell was ousted from its number two position by the combined sales of joint venture Fujitsu-Siemens.
NEC, Hewlett-Packard, Acer and Toshiba also showed growth that outpaced the market.
