Apple today released its fastest and most affordable iBooks yet, reducing the entry-level price to just £749. These are available now.

Processor speeds have been improved across the range - the entry-level model now offers 1.2GHz as standard (matching the previous top of the range product), while the other two in the range offer 1.33GHz processors as standard.New iBook range

AirPort Extreme is also built-in across the range, though Bluetooth remains an optional extra, with support for an internal Bluetooth module. As with the preceeding models, the iBooks secure graphics power from the built-in ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 graphics with 32MB of dedicated DDR memory and AGP 4X support.

"Designed for the digital life on the go, the iBook G4 has been incredibly popular with consumers and students,” said David Moody, Apple’s vice president of worldwide Mac product marketing. "With prices starting at just £749, including AirPort Extreme wireless networking built-in and faster PowerPC G4 processors, the new iBooks are a great deal for every student, home user and small business owner."

All the new iBooks offer FireWire 400, USB 2.0, a built-in 56K v.92 modem and 10/100Base-T Ethernet. 256MB (expandable up 1.25MB) of memory ships as standard across the range, all offer VGA video out, S-video and composite video out support.

The 1.2 GHz PowerPC G4 iBook, weighs 4.9 pounds and costs £749. Model-specific features follow:

The 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4 iBook, weighs 5.9 pounds, costs £899:

A slot-load Combo (DVD-ROM/CD-RW) drive.

The 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4 iBook, weighs 5.9 pounds, costs £1,049 and includes:
A 14.1-inch (diagonal) active-matrix TFT display;
60GB Ultra ATA hard drive;
A slot-load SuperDrive (DVD-R/CD-RW) drive.
