Apple has released its WebObjects 5.1 update.

WebObjects is a suite of developer tools that create fully-featured, three-tier Java desktop applications that run on their own or in a browser.

WebObjects 5.0 develops applications for almost any Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE) or Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) capable server. It can generate HTML, XML (Extensible Mark-Up Language), or SMIL (Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language) from reusable templates, which are mapped directly into the object model.

The 5.1 update adds support for JSP (Java Server Pages) Servlet Integration, Enterprise Java Beans, LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) access, and other enhancements. The update requires Mac OS X 10.1 or later.

WebObjects automatically fetches, caches and updates data from any JDBC (Java Data Base Connectivity) 2 database or JNDI (Java Naming and Directory Database) service.

The WebObjects 5.1 upgrade is available from the Apple Store. There is a shipping and handling charge of £14.
