Apple has updated its digital media encoding tool Compressor, which comes as standard with Final Cut Pro and provides automated media encoding for MPEG or DVD authoring or for streaming.
Compressor Update 1.2.1 offers improvements to application stability and Preview window performance.
Apple notes that those upgrading from versions of Compressor prior to 1.2 will also gain support for MPEG-1 output files, industry-standard letterbox aspect ratios, and saving batches.
Also included in the update are improvements to high definition to standard definition transcoding, optimisation of export from the Final Cut Pro HD timeline, and inclusion of timecode in QuickTime output files.
It is available via software update or from Apple's Web site.
