Apple CEO Steve Jobs wants Apple to sell 5 per cent of all legal music sales, reports state.
Interviewed by the Wall Street Journal (subscription required) MacCentral reports that Jobs described 5 per cent as Apple's goal for the next 24 months. Apple currently accounts for 2 per cent of US music sales, he said.
He added that Apple has renewed its deals with the major music publishers, that prices will remain steady, adding that Apple's Mac sales remain healthy.
On iPod and iTunes, Jobs admitted that Apple wants to "invent or control core technology", which is why it does not currently intend making either product compatible with Windows Media.
