Apple's move to adopt LED screens across its products is driving manufacturers of supporting technologies toward a new boom time.
The Taipei Times reports that Apple's move to the new technology is boosting the sector, with local manufacturer Wellypower Optronics boosting manufacturing capacity by 500 per cent.
Environmental and power efficiency concerns are driving the LED market, as screens using the technology use much less mercury and demand less power.
LED screen shipments will almost triple next year, compared with 12.8 per cent growth for fluorescent tubes, according Display Search.
As LED manufacturers shares begin to head North on strength of the industry shift, Invesco investment officer Jordan Chen observed: "Apple is the trendsetter; now that they're using LEDs everyone else will follow."
