New versions of AppleWorks have hit the shelves – AppleWorks 6.2.3 for Mac OS 8/9 and AppleWorks 6.2.4 for Mac OS X.
The updates are only available for North American English at this point. Apple ususally releases other language updates within weeks of a North American English updates.
AppleWorks is a word-processing, spreadsheet, and database application. The new versions add improved functionality with Macintosh Manager (Apple’s workstation management technology) and fax management software FAXstf.
Users can also look forward to new features: the ability to read and write Microsoft Word and Excel files; enhanced formatting tools; and the speedy download of Web page templates. The updates also detect which version of the Mac OS is running, then install the appropriate files.
AppleWorks 6.2.3 is for Macs running OS 8/9. AppleWorks 6.2.4 is for OS X. Both updates are free and share the same feature set, but have been optimized for the respective operating systems. The AppleWorks updater is available on CD for a £14 handling fee.
