Autodesk has announced Autodesk MotionBuilder 7.5 character animation software.
The software features real-time productivity tools to realise ideas for sophisticated 3D characters in next-generation games and is designed for motion capture applications.
MotionBuilder 7.5 has already been well-used in building games: "In the development of our third-person adventure game Siren 2, MotionBuilder was used for motion capture editing, and also as a critical component of the animation creation pipeline, said Takafumi Fujisawa, executive producer of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan.
The new version of the software includes real-time architecture, animation layering, a unified Story Timeline development environment, instant retargeting of animation data, the ability to stream and record live device data, and integration into Autodesk 3ds Max and Maya workflows.
New keyframe-centric workflows help make it more straightforward to animate using keyframes, including advanced editing of animation from within the timeline.
Set-up and animation of a wider range of character types (such as birds and dinosaurs) has been made faster, and it's also easier to transfer mirrored poses between one character extension and another.
New software features have also been built-in to help handle complex animations such as fighting, wrestling, or prop-handling.
Autodesk MotionBuilder 7.5 is now available to MotionBuilder Platinum Members. The software is expected to become available worldwide in late March 2006.
Autodesk MotionBuilder 7.5's suggested retail pricing (SRP), (which includes ), remains thje same. Autodesk MotionBuilder 7.5 (node-locked) is £2,270 and Autodesk MotionBuilder 7.5 (floating) costs £2,530. Available for Mac and Windows systems.
