Avid has cut prices for media students to coincide with the start of the academic year.
The company also today finalized its acquisition of Pinnacle, following EU regulators approval of the deal last week.
Students can buy a copy of the Avid Xpress Pro Academic software package - a fully featured version of the Avid Xpress Pro professional editing software for Mac and PC - for £145 (excluding VAT) until September 30.
"We want to make it as easy and affordable as possible for media students to purchase their own copy of the software, enabling them to work on their projects away from college - where resources are often tight - to create a better end result, achieve higher grades and gain more experience," said Hans Venmans, senior product marketing manager at Avid.
The Avid Xpress Pro Academic software package offers video, audio, film, effects, titling and DVD-authoring tools for Mac and PC in a single box. It is fully compatible with the Avid software used in media schools.
The Avid Xpress Pro Academic software package is available for students directly from Avid and from selected European Avid resellers.
