CMS Europe will ship its ABSplus device, first shown at Macworld Expo, New York, in October.
This is a Mac OS X-bootable automatic back-up system available in a variety of storage capacities, starting at 20GB (£199 excluding VAT). The product is the first back-up solution and restoration/recovery system for Mac OS X with complete-system bootability, the company claims.
Ken Burke, president of CMS Europe, explained: "The ability to boot into Mac OS X from an ABSplus back-up opens up a wealth of possibilities, including recovering from any kind of disaster instantly.
"Since files are archived in native file format you can access your entire system immediately. The new svelte design complements the ease of use of the product, and the shock mounting can withstand the most rugged travel conditions."
In use, the solution provides a native file-format back-up capacity. This lets users boot straight into an exact copy of their System on Mac OS X simply by plugging the unit into the FireWire port, holding down the option key and starting the Mac.
The product ships with ABSplus software, which backs up automatically when the drive is plugged in, it has several software features to cope with different levels of data disaster.
The pocket-sized ABSplus is available in 20, 30, 40 and 60GB capacities, while the desktop version of this product is available in 40, 60, 80, 120 and 160GB capacities. Prices start at £199.
