Brother has confirmed that it's developing printer and scanner drivers to make its products compatible with Mac OS X.
It notes that in Classic mode, printer drivers compatible with Mac OS 9.x will work if Multiple Users is disabled. The company warns that Mac OS 9.x scanner drivers will not work with Apple's next-generation operating system - it's working to rectify this.
The company "plans to support" native-OS X printing. Drivers are already available for some of its printers, though it is developing more. Brother says that there are no Mac OS X-native scanner drivers available yet, but they are being developed.
The company has posted a Web page detailing the state of OS X drivers and various different Brother products. It warns that printer or scanner models not listed there will not support OS X.
