BT’s official position is that a delay is unavoidable, as implementing the Oftel directive is not a trivial task. BT representatives claim the service will be introduced as soon as is practical.
Oftel’s decision, announced on Friday May 26, required BT to offer wholesale unmetered access to competing companies by June 1. The access will be available only to BT’s competing telecommunications operators. Analaysts expect customers to feel the benefits almost immediately.
