BT has announced that it is launching its own digital music service.

The service, in conjunction with Blueprint, is "designed to revolutionise the industry and give power back to artists, labels and traditional retailers," according to BT.

Blueprint was founded by technology experts and former record label executives.

The Guardian writes that the service has already won a deal to feature music, videos and exclusive footage from Robbie Williams.

The service aims to provide record labels and bands with a "one-stop shop" for all their digital material. It will feature an "open royalty gateway" that will house all digital content from the labels and artists, but enable them to determine how it is used.
