Canon has released a range of compact digital-camcorders. The MV5 Series includes the MV5, MV5i, and MV5iMC.
Each model features a 10x optical zoom and a 1/6-inch 800,000-pixel CCD, and uses Canon’s Digital Camera Technology to improve still-image reproduction, the company claims.
Movie stars The MV5i and MV5iMC camcorders feature a converter that transfers video-footage from analogue to digital, without first needing to record it onto digital tape. This function also digitally stores images and data on media such as DVD-RAM and DVD-RW.
The MV5iMC has a Motion JPEG recording-function for copying short movies onto a memory card – the unit includes an SD Memory card slot and 8MB SD Memory card. Files can then be transferred via USB, and edited with bundled Video Impression software.
Both the MV5 and MV5i are bundled with editing software Pinnacle Studio 7SE for creating movies.
The MV5 series will be available in July. UK pricing is not yet available.
