Plantronics has unveiled the first digitally enhanced microphone and stereo-speaker USB headsets for the Mac.
Equipped with Digital Signal Processing technology from Texas Instruments, the cross-platform headsets digitally enhance input/output audio signals to and from the Mac.
The headset range will consist of four models: a monaural speech headset; a music headset - designed for CDs and mutimedia games; a gaming headset; and a fold-away travel music headset.
Each model offers swivel earphones, a noise-cancelling microphone to minimize background noise, a microphone boom, inline digital volume and mute controls, and a control interface, with pre-set settings for music genres, including rock, jazz and country.
The headphones are OS 9 compatible and will be compatible with USB 2.0. Pricing has not yet been announced.
Platronics computer audio president Neil Snyder told Macworld: “We expect Macintosh users to be a key customer group. The emergence of the Mac as an increasingly important gaming platform, as well as the colossal volume of MP3 downloads, means our headsets will substantially enhance the Macintosh experience.”
